Rang Barse…

Holi is undoubtedly one of the widely celebrated, vibrant and popular festivals of India. It is played with great fervour and joy in almost every Indian home. Today even foreigners who come to India or are acquainted with the Indian culture recognize the beauty and true spirit of the ‘Festival of Colors.’ The festival has, in recent times, spread to parts of Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love, frolic and colours. Holi celebrations start on the night before Holi with a bonfire known as ‘Holika’, around which people sing and dance. On the day of Holi, people smear colors or gulal on each other in groups or individually. There are sprinklers for splashing liquid or water-based colors, popularly called a pichkari. There are face paints, glitters, invisible colors, herbal colors and what not!

People host Holi parties at their own homes, clubs and various open spaces where colored water and gulal flows endlessly. When it comes to celebrating Holi, people just forget all restrictions and enjoy to the fullest! It is real fun to watch people splash colors at each other and let hair down, carefree and full of spirit. Different Holi special delicacies are available on this occasion. Many even have bhaang or thandai, escalating the level of enthusiasm.

So just soak in the excitement of this beautiful festival and be colorful! HAPPY HOLI!!!
